Summary:
A gallbladder flush is suggested by some alternative practitioners as a gall bladder cleanse to remove small gallstones. A gall bladder flush is also known as a gallstone flush and can be used to also remove gall bladder sludge. It may not be as effective as advertised.

A gall bladder flush is a "natural" treatment that supposedly cleans the gall bladder of gallstones and/or gallbladder sludge. One should proceed carefully with a gallbladder flush because this gall bladder cleanse may not be cleaning anything out at all.
A gallbladder flush suggests the ingestion of substances like olive oil and lemon juice. Elementary chemistry students know that combining a fat with an acid creates soap. Some of what you will see in the bowel movement is actually remnants of this process and appear to be flakes, peas and other small objects that we are told are stones.

There are also dangers associated with a gall bladder flush. If you actually have stones, some of them may be quite large and the contractions that occur from the gall bladder flush might cause a trip to the emergency room.
