Lexapro Side Effects
Lexapro side effects may require you to make sure to get emergency medical help if you experience any of these
signs of an allergic reaction: skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Contact
your doctor promptly if you have any of the following side effects of
Lexapro, especially if they are new symptoms or if they get worse: mood
changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability,
agitation, aggressiveness, severe restlessness, mania (mental and/ or
physical hyperactivity), thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself.
Other serious Lexapro side effects include: seizures or convulsions, tremors, shivering, muscle
stiffnerss or twitching, poor balance or coordination, confusion,
sweating, fast heartbeat.
Less serious Lexapro side
effects are: nervousness, restlessness, headaches, trouble
concentrating, drowsiness, dizziness, sleep problems, nausea, diarrhea,
heartburn, weight changes, descreased sex drive, impotence, difficulty
having orgasm, dry mouth or ringing in your ears (tinnitis).
Lexapro is an antidepressant
used to treat anxiety and major depression. Lexapro is part of a group
of drugs called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that
positively affect serotonin levels in the brain. By preventing the
"re-uptake" of serotonin (the removal of serotonin from the body)
Lexapro preserves more for the body to use to maintain a patient's
sense of well being.
Remember that all medications/drugs can cause gastrointestinal symptoms and can be toxic to your liver.
