Mouth ulcers are sores or lesions in the mouth that are very common. Mouth ulcers and tongue ulcers are caused by a variety of reasons. If mouth ulcers last longer than 2 weeks, seek medical attention. Ulcers on the tongue are white ulcers that are caused by hot foods.

Mouth Ulcers
Mouth ulcers are sores or lesions in the mouth caused by many disorders including, canker sores, gingivostomatitis, herpes simplex, leukoplakia, oral cancer and oral thrush. Mouth ulcers are very common and are painful, annoying, and embarrassing.
Mouth ulcers are so caused by trauma (brushing your teeth too hard or biting your lip), stress, or disease (such as, herpes, inflammatory bowel disease, and other immune diseases).
Most mouth ulcers last between 1 to 2 weeks. If they last longer, it may be a sign of a disease that needs medical attention.
Tongue Ulcers
Tongue ulcers are white colored lesions or ulcers on the tongue. The cause of tongue ulcers is often hot or spicy food, such as, coffee, tea, or chilies. Drinking alcohol or smoking can also lead to tongue ulcers.
Another possible cause is that mouth ulcers are a symptom of an unhealthy gastrointestinal system and healing the entire gastrointestinal system may be
the basis for eliminating a mouth ulcer or a tongue ulcer. Many people with mouth ulcer or tongue ulcers also have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
