Pressure Ulcers
A pressure ulcer, also known as a bed sore or skin ulcer, is an area of skin that breaks down when you stay in one position for too long without shifting your weight. Pressure Ulcers often happen when you are bedridden, even for a short period of time. The pressure can reduce the blood supply to the skin and the tissues under the skin causing pressure ulcers or skin ulcers.
What do skin ulcers look like?
A pressure ulcer (skin ulcer) starts as reddened skin, but can turn into a blister, an open sore and then finally a crater. Pressure ulcers usually develop over bony parts of the body that don’t have much fat to pad them. Pressure ulcers are most common on the heels and hips. Pressure ulcers can be serious depending on how much the skin and tissues have been damaged.
