Quality Vitamins
Quality vitamins, how do you know? You probably think your vitamin and mineral supplements and herbs are quality vitamins. But how do you decide if what you buy are quality vitamins?
In a vitamin and mineral supplement, a dead give away the manufacturer is not concerned with the quality of the raw materials is to look at the Vitamin E used. If it says "dl-alpha tocopherol", it's synthetic vitamins. If it says "d-alpha tocopherol", it's natural. (Note the absence of the "l" after the "d".) This applies to any multi-vitamin or bottles of just Vitamin E.
Two other clues about quality vitamins: If the calcium used is calcium carbonate, bone meal or oyster shell, the manufacturer is using poor quality raw materials in your vitamin and mineral supplement that may cause stomach upset.
Also, please don't use Coral Calcium! It's a scam, it's actually about .09 cents worth of limestone in each bottle!
If there is iron in the vitamin and mineral supplement, they again aren't concerned with the consumers well being because iron will interfere with the absorption of other nutrients and may cause stomach upset. If you are anemic and need iron, please take it by itself at a different time than the multi-vitamin.
Also note there is no such thing as a women's or men's vitamin and mineral supplement. They simply put a few highly publicized nutrients or herbs into the pill...at dosages less than can be effective...charge a higher price and the consumer gets no benefit from it, but people think it's "special" for them. Men and women need approximately the same nutrients with the exception of women needing more calcium.
