Scalp Psoriasis
Scalp psoriasis is the most common form of plaque psoriasis. Scalp psoriasis appears as red, raised patches or lesions covered with a silvery buildup of dead skin called scale. Though it can appear on the elbows, knees and lower back, scalp psoriasis is the most common location.
Traditional medicine will guess at many causes of psoriasis and treatment for any type including scalp psoriasis will usually involve drugs, creams or ultraviolet light therapy.
The best alternative/nutritional/holistic therapy will focus on the health of the gastrointestinal system and diet. Scalp psoriasis is very much linked to diet, in spite of what most conventional doctors might say. It's the lack of health and balance of the GI tract that will allow foods to become a villian for those suffering.
Unhealthy tissue in your intestines will allow improper absorption to occur and the resulting involvement of the immune system. It is the chemistry of that interaction that causes the inflammation of your skin.
Successful treatment of scalp psoriasis begin with re-establishment of beneficial bacterial levels of the gut, restoration of proper chemistry and the temporary elimination of dairy and gluten containing foods.. Additionally, a food allergy test will fine tune your diet by identifying the foods your immune system is having trouble with.
