Symptoms of Allergy

Summary: Symptoms of allergy are wide and varied. Symptoms of allergy are usually associated with sinus problems but can also be far more serious including itchiness, headaches, pain and inflammation, skin rashes, hives, irregular heartbeat, anaphylactic shock and asthma.

Symptoms of Allergy

Symptoms of allergy can be just annoying or symptoms of allergy can be life threatening. Symptoms of allergies can also be categorized as mild, moderate, or severe.

Mild symptoms of allergy can include rash, itchy watery eyes congestion and mild symptoms of allergies do not spread to other parts of the body.

Moderate symptoms of allergies can include symptoms like itchiness and difficulty breathing that may or may not spread to other parts of the body.

Severe symptoms of allergy may result in anaphylaxis which is a rare, life-threatening emergency occurring suddenly and affecting the whole body. Symptoms of allergy involving anaphylaxis may begin with itching of the eyes or face and within minutes progress to more serious symptoms, including swelling of the face and lips, difficulty breathing or swallowing, abdominal pain, cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.

Eliminate Symptoms of Allergies

If you experience symptoms of allergies or allergic reactions, the first course of action is to eliminate your contact with the substance that is causing your symptoms...if you know what that is.

The problem with trying to eliminate the causes of symptoms of allergies is that some are easy to identify, others much harder. Known peanut and shellfish allergies are easy, do your best to avoid them, pollen season presents a bit of a challenge...unless you hold your breath.... and drug reactions can be alleviated with an avoidance of that drug or a change to another.

Some causes of symptoms of allergies are much more difficult to identify. Reactions to dairy, gluten containing foods (wheat, oats, barley, rye) or other foods may require an allergy test to identify. But, which allergy test?

Environmental allergies such as mold, pollen, cats, etc. will also require an allergy test. But which one?
