Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome

Summary: Symptoms of leaky gut syndrome are many and encompass a wide variety of problems as the gastrointestinal system is so paramount to human health. With imbalances in the gut causing the tissue to inflame and expand, digestion and absorption changes and the immune system may get involved leading to the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome.

Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome

Symptoms of leaky gut syndrome are many and can be discussed in two ways. First, leaky gut syndrome can occur in most patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's Disease or any type of colitis, so it's common these conditions are linked to leaky gut syndrome symptoms. It's actually a chicken or egg as to which came first, but leaky guy syndrome probably wins.

Symptoms of leaky gut syndrome may also cause other health conditions in the above types of patients. The most common are headaches, pain and inflammation, skin rashes, psoriasis, eczema, hives, irregular heartbeat, anaphylactic shock (that’s when people can’t breathe and could possibly die) and asthma.  Not all of these symptoms occur in everyone, but depending on your biochemical individuality, some or all may appear. There is a much larger list below of all the conditions that can be associated with leaky gut syndrome.

But, why?

I mentioned the chemical called histamine in my video titled, "What is Leaky Gut Syndrome" as a possible result of an unhealthy, imbalanced and inefficient gastrointestinal system. It plays a major role in the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome.

Now we all know what an anti-histamine is.  Most of us have used one. An anti-histamine relieves the symptoms of allergies, sinus drainage, stuffiness and red eyes.  That means that histamine must cause those symptoms. Conventional medicine has quite a bit of knowledge about histamine. How it’s created and its systemic effects are well documented in medical textbooks. The connection between foods, histamine, and the many health conditions linked to it are not as well understood by the average physician. This description of the creation of histamine is also the explanation of the creation of a food allergy.

Food allergies?  Now you know the mechanism inside the gastrointestinal system that allows the creation of a food allergy. Unfortunately, your favorite foods in particular are the ones that are crossing over into your bloodstream and creating this chain of events. So, food allergies...as a result of leaky gut syndrome, causes the immune system to generate the chemical called histamine...and it's histamine that's responsible for most of the symptoms of leaky gut syndrome mentioned on this page.

It also explains why many patients with IBS, Crohn's or any type of colitis have other health concerns.

Treatment for symptoms of leaky gut syndrome depends on your specific diagnosis and is described in detail in my other article titled, "Leaky Gut Syndrome Treatment" and includes re-establishment of proper bacterial balances, feeding the tissue lining the gut, temporary dietary changes and a possible food allergy test to identify the foods you have build antigens to that are generating the histamine and creating YOUR specific symptoms.

More information can be found in the article titled, "Food Allergy Testing".
